Now what?
People who pass the CCNA exam fall under one of three classes. You may be just entering the IT field you may be operating on the LAN side and want to move to the WAN side (that is where I was when I passed the CCNA), or you may already work on the WAN side of the community, and you want to move up the ladder. One of the ways or the other, you're planning to have to face the horrible job interview. Some CCNAs do very well in interviews, and some don't. I have been on both sides of that interview, and I've a few tips for you to be some of those who do well and get that job.
Be confident, but not cocky. The CCNA is a superb certfication to possess it's where all of us start. Don't head into the interview thinking you know everything because you have a CCNA. (I am a CCIE and am the first to admit I certainly don't know everything.)
Answer issues confidently if you do not know the answer, that's no sin. If you prepared for the CCNA the proper way -- getting hands-on experience and knowledge tougher topics like binary [e xn y] and NAT -- you'll be good.
Don't stop learning the afternoon you pass the exam. Information which you do not use easily becomes ignored. It is okay to simply take a day or two off and observe, but you need to get back to work from then on. Keep reviewing your CCNA subjects, and get going on your first CCNP assessment. I have seen too many newly-minted CCNAs who quickly forgot every thing they learned for the assessment because they stopped studying right after they passed. Start planning for the meeting BEFORE you take the exam. How will you do that? Research for the examination the right way. Get some hands-on experience, either in a class or on your own tray of equipment. Get a quality Cisco training.
