The Scottish Football Association has reported a large volume of "threatening and abusive" messages to police following the controversy over referee Kevin Clancy's decisions during Saturday night's Old Firm derby. Ibrox club claimed he made two major errors, including disallowing an early goal from Alfredo Morelos.

Boyd was a quiet, introverted student who didn't have many close friends during high school. After joining Derek Hale's Ice Pick team, however, Boyd quickly rose to become their second-in-command due to his calm and thoughtful personality.

Referee Clancy

Police Scotland were alerted to a series of offensive messages sent to referee Kevin Clancy following Saturday's Old Firm derby. These threatening emails were addressed directly at Mr. Clancy and his family, and were posted online after the game.

The SFA said they had referred the matter to Police Scotland, who have yet to conduct an investigation. Chief Executive Ian Maxwell stated that these threats went beyond criticism of performance or perceived decision-making - some may even be criminal in intent.

Former Grade One ref Steve Conroy believes the abuse whistlers are receiving to be disgraceful. It is vastly different than 2010, when Scottish referees staged strike action after being verbally and physically harassed by clubs and fans.

Boyd, who worked at Parkhead for Sky Sports, worries that if this continues, drastic measures could be taken against match officials. He urges those responsible for sending abusive emails to be punished appropriately and never do it again.

SFA

Referees across Scotland are facing the possibility of going on strike this weekend due to the SFA's threat to withdraw their labor. After being presented with a range of proposals by the SFA, referees told their bosses they would not back down regardless - including banning all club officials from commenting on referees before and during matches. The Scottish Football Association have reached an agreement with several European associations to bring in officials from outside Scotland. Unfortunately, officials from Iceland and Norway have declined to travel there.

Referees were last threatened to strike in 2008 over pay, but a compromise was reached and they stayed put. Since then, referees have had the constant worry that their careers are under attack from players, managers and supporters who undermine and abuse match officials.

Celtic

Former Rangers captain Robin Boyd expressed his displeasure over the referee's decision to disallow Alfredo Morelos' goal in a recent Old Firm clash. Boyd described it as an 'embarrassing' decision.

He believes Celtic have the upper hand in the race to win the Treble at present, as they boast an incredible home record this season, having won every Premiership game played at Parkhead. He contends Rangers are missing several key players, such as Connor Goldson and Ryan Jack, due to injury. Additionally, Boyd worries the loss of defender Tom Lawrence could prove a major setback for Gers.

Boyd believes a loss for Michael Beale's side in the derby would be disastrous and put immense pressure on him. Additionally, Boyd thinks Celtic have an edge in the title race and could potentially win it on the final day of the season.
